Strings | Violin • Viola
Our Strings Program provides individualized violin and viola instruction for beginning through advanced students.
All Strings instruction is offered through private lessons, allowing faculty to tailor instruction to each student's physical development, technical needs, experience, and musical goals.
-
Thirty-minute private lessons provide focused instruction for young beginners and students seeking supplemental support for school orchestra.
Lessons emphasize foundational technique, posture, bowing, intonation, note reading, and age-appropriate repertoire.
This format is especially appropriate for students who benefit from shorter, concentrated instructional sessions.
Placement is determined in consultation with the instructor.
-
Forty-five-minute private lessons provide additional time for developing technical skills, musicianship, and repertoire.
Instruction may include scales, exercises, sight-reading, interpretation, and preparation for school orchestra, auditions, or individual performances.
-
Sixty-minute lessons support students whose experience, repertoire, and instructional needs require more extensive individual study.
Students may engage in advanced technical work, substantial repertoire development, audition preparation, and deeper musical interpretation.
-
Conservatory Strings provides advanced individualized instruction for serious violin and viola students.
Students work closely with experienced faculty to develop technical mastery, musicianship, repertoire, and artistic independence.
Instruction may include advanced repertoire, audition preparation, competition preparation, and other opportunities appropriate to the student's goals.
Admission is by audition. Lesson duration, frequency, and faculty placement are determined through consultation.
